This post is from our friends at Move Over AIPAC, a four-day conference taking place this weekend in Washington, D.C.
Dear Friends,
Since we’re all anxious to see A JUST PEACE come to Palestinians and Israelis during these difficult times, we want to take this opportunity to urge you TO SIGN UP for all—or at least part of the upcoming gathering called “MOVE OVER AIPAC”, which will take place from MAY 21-24 in Washington DC. You can be a part of this historic happening for as little as $20! But you must sign up! More than 100 organizations have endorsed this event being organized by CODEPINKA, including ADC-DC.
Just look at the standout speaker-and-panelist lineup for the “MOVE OVER AIPAC” SUMMIT CONFERENCE ON MAY 21: Professors JOHN MEARSHEIMER AND STEPHEN WALT, authors of the game-changing book, THE ISRAEL LOBBY, which exposed AIPAC—The American Israel Public Affairs Committee—for its gigantic influence in getting our Congress to blindly take the “Israel-right-or-wrong” point of view as it enacts vital legislation framing our pro-Israel policy in the Middle East; and the incomparable ANNA BALTZER, Jewish-American author and Fulbright scholar who exemplifies the rising generation of savvy American Jews liberated from wrong-headed world views of the past; hip Palestinian women authors like LAILA EL-HADAD, NOURA EREKAT AND NADIA HIJAB and their equally perceptive and prophetic counterparts in the Jewish community, ANNA BALTZER, PHYLLIS BENNIS, DONNA NEVEL, LIZZY RATNER, DALIT BAUM, AND REBECCA VILKOMERSON. Another standout: distinguished diplomat/author CHARLES W. FREEMAN. And ADC’s ABED AYOUB will speak about Congressional lobbying.
Hey, we’ve only hit the highlights of Day 1! FOR THE WHOLE 4-DAY SCHEDULE OF RALLIES, DEMONSTRATIONS, STREET THEATER AND MORE, climaxed by lobbying on Capitol Hill, please go towww.MoveOverAIPAC.org where you can get the complete schedule and sign-up on line. Remember, you have to register—though if you show up and pay on Saturday morning you might still get in if space allows. See you there!!

Film followed by discussion with Ellen Siegel and Lauri E. King
About the Speakers
Ellen Siegel: Ms. Siegel is an American Jewish nurse who was volunteering at Gaza Hospital during the massacre in 1982. She is currently in Lebanon for the 28th anniversary to stand in solidarity with the Palestinians.
Lauri E. King: Dr. King is the North American Coordinator of International Campaign for Justice for the Victims of Sabra & Shatila, co-founder of Electronic Intifada, and an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown University Center for Contemporary Arab Studies
About the Film
The Gaza Hospital in Beirut is adjacent to the Palestinian refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila; it used to be a vanguard health center run by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. The Hospital witnessed and endured the Israeli invasion in 1982 and the War of the Camps — being severely damaged and later set up as a refugee center hospital, a refugee shelter, a building. This documentary switches between past and present as it traces the history of this building and the stories of the people who live or have worked therein. It shows a story of war, resilience and memory. Gaza Hospital reveals a rich, albeit tragic story set in tumultuous times.
Film is 84 minutes and is in Arabic with English subtitles.
