Join the ADC-DC Chapter and the NAAP-DC Chapter for some Football and Fun this Sunday at Buffalo Billiards in Dupont Circle! The afternoon games start at 1:00—Chapter members will be there a little early to ensure good seats!

Buffalo Billiards is a great spot, with pool tables, 4 10ft TV’s, 40 Flat Screen TV’s, dart boards, outdoor patio and of course great food and 3 fully stocked bars (in the matter your team is losing, or your Fantasy team isn’t doing so well!l).

Also, for those in the ADC/NAAP Fantasy Football League this is a great opportunity to talk some trash to people you have competing against for the past few weeks!

Buffalo Billiards is located right off the Dupont Metro.

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) calls on all people to extend support to the 20+ million people affected by the worst monsoon floods in Pakistan’s history.  These floods are the most devastating natural disaster in recent history with 20% of the country submurged (imagine Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Arkansas all underwater).

The United Nations has characterized the destruction caused by the floods in Pakistan as greater than the damage from the 2004 Asian tsunami, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake combined. Yet nearly three weeks since the floods began, aid is trickling in slowly and reluctantly to the United Nations, NGOs, and the Pakistani government.

Pakistani victims need a lot more help and they need it NOW!

Washington, DC | May 31, 2010 | www.adc.org – The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) strongly condemns the massacre committed by the Israeli forces in International waters against civilian humanitarian activists who were on the “Gaza Freedom Flotilla” to deliver humanitarian aid. The unprovoked Israeli attacks occurred at night, and, based on current reports, massacring 20 unarmed civilian humanitarian activists and injuring over 60.

The use of military force by Israel in international waters against peace activists on the Flotilla is a provocation to the international community and violates humanitarian values and international law.

ADC calls on the Administration to hold Israel responsible for this massacre of civilian peace activists, and to demand that Israel immediately ends the siege of Gaza.

Over 600 individuals, on six ships, were aboard the Flotilla, and all whom have been re-directed to Israel where they face deportation and/or criminal charges. A number of American citizens were amongst the activists.

THE CHALLENGE

Fairfax County is projecting a significant budget deficit for FY 2011 (beginning July 1, 2010). We are in the midst of a multi-year, cyclical downturn requiring that county decision-makers continue to make expenditure and revenue adjustments. Our ongoing challenge is to develop a budget with an appropriate level of services that are both sustainable and acceptable to the community. (more…)
